A Complete Solution for Purifying FFPE Samples

The Ionic® FFPE Complete Purification Kit provides automated, simultaneous, purification of DNA and RNA, including mRNA and miRNA, from FFPE tissue samples with 75% less hands-on time than conventional bead and column-based methods.

  • Simple Workflow – Extract and purify DNA and RNA from FFPE scrolls or sections in one streamlined workflow
  • Purify DNA, mRNA and miRNA – RNA purification includes both mRNA, miRNA and other small non-coding RNAs
  • Simplify Lysis – Deparaffinize, lyse, and de-crosslink in a single reaction without using harsh chemicals
  • Improve Reliability – Minimize user-to-user variability, cross-contamination, and sample loss

Ionic® Purification System for FFPE Samples

The Ionic Purification System from Purigen Biosystems uses isotachophoresis (ITP) to extract, purify, and concentrate genomic DNA and RNA from biological samples. Since nucleic acids remain in their native form, not denatured or dehydrated, the Ionic system is ideal for challenging samples with limited starting material or low-quality material.

Simultaneous Purification of DNA and RNA

A faster workflow for DNA and RNA purification that doesn’t compromise yield

FIGURES 1 and 2: Replicate 10 µm sections from 14 FFPE tissue blocks were extracted and purified by both the Ionic FFPE Complete Purification Kit and a market-leading column-based DNA and RNA extraction kit. The extracted and purified material from each kit was measured using a Qubit fluorometer with the Qubit dsDNA High Sensitivity assay (FIGURE 1) and the Qubit High Sensitivity RNA assay (FIGURE 2). The average yield across the replicate samples processed by each method for each block is plotted as a bar graph with error bars representing the standard deviation within each population. The average improvement to RNA yield for samples processed on the Ionic system is 1.2x. The average yield performance for DNA is equivalent between both methods.

Purigen Isotachophoresis Technology

Isotachophoresis separates and concentrates charged molecules in solution solely based on their electrophoretic mobility. Biological samples are gently lysed and added to the Purigen Ionic® Fluidic Chip which applies an electric field to isolate nucleic acid in its natural, native form.
